Matching Marriott Bonvoy Status To I Prefer Elite

First, sign up for a Preferred Hotels I Prefer Rewards account if you haven’t already. This only takes a few minutes. Once a member (you’ll be given base level ‘Insider’ status) note down your I Prefer membership number. You can find this in the ‘My Account’ section.

Next, login to your Marriott Bonvoy account and take a screenshot of your Platinum, Titanium or Ambassador status. You’ll need this as evidence to complete the status match.

Before you status match, you might want to know if you can keep rematching to I Prefer Elite after your Elite status expires. The good news is that as long as you retain your elite status with Marriott, you can keep rematching to I Prefer Elite.

Now you’ve got your I Prefer membership number and Marriott status screenshot, you’re going to email members@iprefer.com. Preferred Hotels don’t have a dedicated status match page. This is the only way to match your status. You can use the email template below:

How I Prefer Points Work

Usually, I Prefer members earn 10 points/$1 spent (or foreign currency equivelant). Elite members earn a 50% points bonus, so 15 points/$1. However, some properties have a base points rate of 5 points/$1.

I Prefer points can be redeemed for Reward Certificates (12,500 point minimum), Reward Nights (15,000 point minimum) and auctioned experiences (5,000 point minimum). Whilst Reward Certificates are usually applied to bookings, some hotels allow you to put them towards hotel amenities like the restaurant or spa. Auctioned experiences include nights, dining and spa experiences.

1000 I Prefer points is worth $2 in Reward Certificates. Although, you redeem points in set amounts and you’ll need 12,500 points at a minimum:

  • 12,500 Points = $25 Reward Certificate (Minimum)

  • 25,000 Points = $50 Reward Certificate

  • 50,000 Points = $100 Reward Certificate

  • 125,000 Points = $250 Reward Certificate

  • 250,000 Points = $500 Reward Certificate

I Prefer points do expire if they’ve not been redeemed in 2 years.
