How To Status Match Iberia To Virgin Flying Club

Iberia Plus Platino, Infinita and Infinita Prime members can status match straight to Virgin Flying Club Gold. Similarly, Iberia Oro members can match to Virgin Silver, one tier lower than Gold. In this ultimate guide, I’ll detail the status matching process and break down the benefits you’ll receive with Virgin status.

Status Matching Iberia Plus To Virgin Flying Club

Virgin differ from other airline status matches in that you’ll need to have an upcoming ‘revenue flight’ booked with Virgin Atlantic before you can match. A ‘revenue flight’ being a paid-for non-rewards flight. On top of that, if you’re matching to Virgin Gold, the booking will need to meet a minimum cabin class:

  • Match To Virgin Silver - Need Virgin Atlantic Booking (Any Cabin Class)

  • Match To Virgin Gold - Need Virgin Atlantic Booking (Premium Economy or Upper Class)

Once matched, you’ll have elite Virgin status (Silver or Gold) for 12 months. Once those 12 months are up, you’ll revert to whatever Virgin Status you should be on based on the number of Virgin Tier Points earned in those 12 months.

Virgin do have the right to revoke your status. They’ve likely added that stipulation so that you don’t book a cheap Virgin flight, match and then cancel the flight.

How To Complete The Status Match

First, sign up to Virgin Flying Club if you haven’t already. Once a member, login to Virgin Flying Club and note down your Virgin Flying Club number. Once you’ve done that, head to ‘My Flights’ and take a screenshot of your upcoming Virgin Atlantic Booking (with booking reference visible).

Then, login to Iberia Plus and head to ‘My Iberia Plus’. There, take a screenshot of your Iberia Plus digital membership card, showing your name and Iberia status.

You’ve now got all you need to complete the Iberia-Virgin status match (Virgin Flying Club Number, Virgin Flight Screenshot and Iberia Status Screenshot). Head to the Virgin Status Match page, scroll down and complete the form.

You’ll need to fill in your details, select ‘Iberia - Iberia Plus’ from the ‘Other Airline Loyalty Programme’ dropdown menu and either ‘Oro’ or ‘Platino’ from the ‘Tier At Other Airline Programme’ dropdown menu. Iberia Infinita and Infinita Prime members should just select ‘Platino’ too.

Then, attach the screenshots (Virgin Atlantic Flight Booking and Iberia Plus Status) and hit ‘Send’.

Officially, Virgin say that it can take up to 30 days to complete the match. However, it’s likely you’ll get confirmation within a few days. Once upgraded, you’ll have your elite Virgin status (Silver or Gold) for 12 months.
