Status Matching Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan To Delta SkyMiles
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold 75K or MVP Gold 100K members can status match to Delta SkyMiles Platinum Medallion. Similarly, Alaska MVP Gold members can status match to SkyMiles Gold Medallion.
You’re eligible for the status match as long as you haven’t been given free Delta status in the past 3 years (unless it came free with Million Miler status).
Delta offer an immediate Status Match followed by a Status Match Challenge. Initially, you’ll match for 3 months. You can then extend your status match if you meet the minimum requirements with Delta in that 3 month window:
To Extend Gold - 12,500 MQMs OR 15 MQSs (AND $1,500 MQDs* - US Members Only)
To Extend Platinum - 18,750 MQMs OR 25 MQSs (AND $2,250 MQDs* - US Members Only)
MQMs are Medallion Qualification Miles, MQSs are Medallion Qualifying Segments and MQDs are Medallion Qualification Dollars. You can earn these on Delta, Delta Connection and Delta Partner-operated flights.
You can extend your status to a lower tier (eg. Platinum extended to Gold) if you only meet those requirements in the 3 month window but you can’t move up in status if you meet the higher status challenge requirements.
*MQD requirements are waived if you spend $25,000 on a qualifying Delta American Express Card the calendar year you complete the match. If your 3 month challenge window crosses into the next calendar year, you’d have to hit the minimum spend in year 1 or year 2 (before the end of the match window).
How To Complete The Status Match
First, sign up to Delta SkyMiles if you aren’t already a member. Once your account is setup, note down your Delta SkyMiles number. You’ll need this to complete the match.
Next, login to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. Here, you’ll need to take 2 screenshots to send to Delta as evidence. First, head to ‘Overview and Elite Status’ and then ‘Print Membership Card’. You don’t need to print the card, just take a screenshot showing your card, including your name and Alaska elite status.
Next, head to ‘Trips’ and screenshot your recent Alaska Airlines activity. You’ll need this to prove that you earned your Alaska status the usual way, rather than through a credit card promotion or similar.
Once you’ve got your Delta SkyMiles number, proof of Alaska Status and recent Alaska activity, head to the Delta Status Match page and fill in the online form. In the ‘Other Airline’ box, enter ‘Alaska Airlines’ and in the ‘Status On Other Airline Box’, enter MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K or MVP Gold 100K depending on your Alaska status.
Enter the other info, including your Delta SkyMiles number, upload your proof of Alaska status and activity, then hit ‘Submit’.
Delta state that the status match can take up to 3 weeks so bear that in mind if you’re waiting for your status match before you make a booking with Delta.
