How Do Sonesta Points Work?

Normally, you earn 10 Points/$1 USD Spent. The rate is 5 Points/$1 at Sonesta Simply Suites. When you spend in a different currency, points are earned on the USD equivalent.

Points are used to book Reward Stays only, there are no alternatives. And, unfortunately, you need to fill in a points redemption form, you can’t just book the nights yourself. You’ll be asked to select your desired hotel, check-in date and nights required.

Reward Stays range in price depending on the tier of the hotel, from 10,000 points/night (Tier 1) to 50,000 points/night (Tier 11). You’ll find different brands (eg. Royal Sonesta) span multiple tiers as it’s all based on the specific hotel. Here’s a rough guide:

  • Tier 1-2 (10,000-12,5000 Points) - Sonesta Suites

  • Tier 3-6 (15,000-22,500 Points) - Sonesta Select, Hotels and Suites

  • Tier 7-8 (25,000-27,500 Points) - Royal Sonesta, Select, Hotels and Suites

  • Tier 9 (30,000 Points) - Royal Sonesta

  • Tier 10 (40,000 Points) - Sonesta Resort St Maarten & Royal Sonesta Lihue

  • Tier 11 (50,000 Points) - Sonesta Ocean Point Resort St Maarten

Bear in mind that Sonesta points do expire if you’ve neither earned nor redeemed points in the last 2 years.
