Higher tier Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members can status match to Virgin Flying Club. KrisFlyer Elite Gold members can match to top-tier Virgin Gold and Krisflyer Elite Silver members can match to middle-tier Virgin Silver. In this ultimate guide, I’ll break down the matching process, along with the benefits received as an elite Virgin Flying Club member.

Status Matching Singapore KrisFlyer To Virgin Flying Club

Before you status match, bear in mind that Virgin require that you have an upcoming Virgin Atlantic ‘revenue’ booking before you can match. A ‘revenue’ booking is simply a paid-for, non-reward flight. If you’re matching from Singapore KrisFlyer Gold Elite to Virgin Gold, that booking will also need to meet a minimum cabin class requirement.

  • Match To Virgin Silver - Need Upcoming Booking With Virgin Atlantic (Any Cabin Class)

  • Match To Virgin Gold - Need Upcoming Booking With Virgin Atlantic (Premium Economy or Upper Class)

Whatever status level you match to, it will expire 12 months after the match is complete. Once those 12 months are up, you’ll revert to whatever status you would normally be with Virgin (based on Virgin Tier Points earned in the previous 12 months).

Virgin can revoke your matched status. They’ve likely added this stipulation so that you can’t book a revenue flight with Virgin to get the match and then cancel the flight.

How To Complete The Status Match

First, join Virgin Flying Club if you haven’t already, login and write down your Virgin Flying Club number. Once you’ve done that, go to 'My Flights’ and take a screenshot showing your Virgin Atlantic Booking. Make sure the booking reference number is visible.

After you’ve done that, login to your Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer account and take a screenshot of your KrisFlyer Silver Elite or Gold Elite status. You’ll need this to complete the status match.

Now that you’ve got your Virgin Flying Club number, plus screenshots of your upcoming Virgin flight and Singapore status, go to the Virgin Atlantic Status Match page and scroll down to the end of the page where you’ll see the online form you need to complete.

Write in your details, select ‘Singapore Airlines - KrisFlyer’ from the ‘Other Airline Loyalty Programme’ dropdown list and then either ‘Silver’ or ‘Gold’ from the ‘Tier At Other Airline Programme’ dropdown list.

Attach the evidence of your upcoming Virgin Flight and Singapore status, then press ‘Send’.

Virgin can take up to 30 days to complete the match so bear that in mind. Most, however, will be matched within a few days. Once your Virgin status has been upgraded, you’ll have 12 months to enjoy all of the benefits outlined below. After those 12 months, your Virgin status will revert to a level based solely on Virgin Tier Points earned.
